WHAT IS A HOSPICE? WHO GOES THERE?

Similar questions come from our subscribers who follow us. In response, Barno Abdusamatova, Deputy director of the Public Foundation for Child Support, explained what a "hospice" is.

Hospice is a clinic for severe oncological diseases, where all conditions are created to help patients. Brightly painted walls of the building, a large TV, laptops and soft toys will help children and their parents to cheer up and not give up.

The English word "Hospis" comes from the French. However, in France, the word "hospice" usually means an institution where sick and poor people are cared for, and does not have a palliative meaning.

The purpose of the hospice is to give priority to comfort, quality of life and individual desires. The definition of comfort depends on each person or, if the patient is incapacitated, on his family.
The first children's hospice "Taskin" in the Tashkent region, created on the initiative of the head of state, is the only institution. The Foundation also constantly receives messages from children who are there.
