THE SECOND ORPHAN DISEASES FORUM OF THE CIS COUNTRIES WAS HELD IN MOSCOW

On June 26-27 of this year, the II CIS Forum on Orphan Diseases was held in Moscow.

The forum is aimed at developing international cooperation and combining efforts in the field of orphan diseases treatment, exchanging experience in the organization of medical care and drug provision for this category of patients.

The forum was attended by representatives of the Ministries of health of the CIS countries, leading experts from Uzbekistan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, scientific organizations and international communities.

Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, took part in the forum and warmly welcomed the organizers and participants. The Minister noted that today more than 300 million people in the world live with rare diseases. In May 2025, the World Health Assembly adopted the first resolution officially recognizing orphan diseases as an international health priority. This document opens up new opportunities for countries to cooperate in the fight against rare diseases.

Marat Sadikov, Executive Director of the Public Foundation for the Support of Children, also took part in this forum from Uzbekistan, who spoke about the importance of uniting global efforts in the fight against these diseases and about the Foundation's work and achievements in this direction. It is noteworthy that the Foundation provides the drug "Glurasim" free of charge to sick children suffering from orphan diseases. It was also emphasized that such events are constantly supported by the Government of Uzbekistan and are implemented on the basis of special programs.
